Wednesday Evening Links

May 19th, 2010 by Kat

When work consumes your morning, the morning links become evening links…but it gives me more material to choose from, my friends! Kat’s obscure sports links for your perusing pleasure, coming right up…

- This morning, ESPN announced the creation of ESPN Passport, an application that will allow fans to “check in” at sporting events and keep an ongoing log of the games they attend. Think of it as essentially Foursquare for sports fans. Should this be filed under “Social Media Overkill” or is it a smart move by the Worldwide Leader? Deadspin weighs in (of course.)

- You may be a Patriots fan, but I’m not. (A rarity in New England, I know.) Nevertheless, the following news is of interest and/or amusement to Buffalo Bills fans (like myself) and Pats fans (like everyone else here at BAS) alike. Former Bills QB JP Losman (or Loserman, as my mom affectionately refers to him) signed a one year contract with the now Pete Carroll led Seattle Seahawks. The former Tulane QB played 33 games for the Bills, but was hampered by attitude, injuries and a lack of consistent coaching. Will Carroll’s unique high energy, high touch coaching style work for Losman, or will he end up back in the UFL after his contract is up?

- Andover native, former Boston University captain, and current Worcester Sharks left winger John McCarthy is writing for the Sharks’ website while he is up with San Jose during the Western Conference Finals. McCarthy is a member of the “Black Aces” or taxi squad, but still gets to enjoy some of the perks of life in the NHL.

Kat grumbles about the Bills on Twitter; following her may make you feel better about any depressing team you follow. At least you aren’t a Bills fan.
