Tonight the Boston Bruins will face the Devils in New Jersey at 7:00 pm EST. The B’s are coming off a disappointing 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in no small part because of Tuukka Rask sliding on his back like a damn Ninja Turtle. Granted, the kid made 24 saves, but what on earth was that?

Wonky goaltending aside, Boston has dropped 3 of it’s last 4 games. Fans were given a shred of hope in an outstanding 5-1 win against the Flyers, but expectations seem to have been lowered again with the loss to the Habs. They’ll head into New Jersey with a one point lead over the Rangers for the coveted eighth place spot. Is anyone else finding it dismal that eighth place is coveted in the NHL this year?

We know about the Bruins, how about the Devils?

New Jersey seemed to be getting into the swing of things, coming up big with wins against the Rangers and Penguins. Much like the Bruins, however, they suffered a disappointing loss to the New York Islanders. In reality, that’s probably  more sad than the Bruins losing to the Habs. The Devils have fallen a long way from the 4 point Eastern Conference lead they held on January 12. To be more specific, they’ve gone 8-13-2. Regardless of this, they’re still fourth in the Eastern Conferene and the Bruins are clinging to eighth with at least 4 other teams fighting right behind them.

Let’s also not forget that the Devils are 22-9-1-0 at home and the Bruins are only 16-12-3-3 on the road. Oh, and the Devils only allow and average of 2.39 goals per game while the Bruins are touting the worst offense in the league with 2.36 goals per game. 

The statistics are stacked against the Bruins, but stats are for losers. Here we go!
